The second most planted red wine in Germany after Pinot Noir, the Dornfelder grape produces wines far deeper in colour than other German reds . Loved by the locals, Dornfelder is difficult to find outside of Germany, probably because it all gets drunk at home! This example of Dornfelder is a full-bodied, complex wine with a fairly tannic acidity. This wine won the Gold award (Goldene Kammerpreismünze) for Weingut Escher.
